toddybodyApr 19, 02:40 PMThey will either skip it altogether or perhaps replace all USB 2 ports with USB 3 ones (thus keeping TB as the "advanced" FW equivalent)...

The logical thing would to mirror the recent MBP refresh. I really dont think they would include USB 3.0 ports until Ivy Bridge.

jmorNov 24, 09:58 PMI went on a bit of a spending spree the last couple of weeks...

First about 2.5 weeks ago I went to the mall and bought:

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187/jmorx3/IMG_0548.jpg?t=1290657509
All at Pacsun

And this at Urban Outfitters
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187/jmorx3/IMG_0546.jpg?t=1290657625

Then a little over a week ago I went to a different mall and bought:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187/jmorx3/IMG_0545.jpg?t=1290657691
The boyfriend jeans, which are now my favorite jeans ever, were only $17 and the sweatshirt which is very comfortable was $30 and the t shirts were like two for $25 or something. These are all from this pretty new store that I like called Garage.

And today I bought more stuff from PacSun:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187/jmorx3/IMG_0551.jpg?t=1290657809
I spent a little over a hundred for two sweaters, a sweatshirt, a tee, and a ring. But I got $50 worth of PacLoot to use later so it worked out well.

And I also went to Delias, where I don't normally ever shop:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm187/jmorx3/IMG_0549.jpg?t=1290657933
Got the two sweaters for $60 as they were originally $40 each but everything was BOGO 1/2 off, then I found that AWESOME t-shirt which cost only SIX dollars. I was very happy, then I also got $25 off a future purchase so overall its been an expensive few weeks.

Forgot-I also bought a sweatshirt from my school and ordered another sweatshirt and sweatpants from the soccer team clothing.
I'm pretty much broke now until I get paid again, but it was worth it as I badly needed new clothes for a while now, but all the rest of my money from my paychecks will be going toward Christmas gifts and future car upgrades and gas.

ipedroApr 12, 10:20 PMWho thinks that they'll eliminate Final Cut Express and lower the price of Final Cut Pro? iMovie seems to serve the "express crowd" while FCP would be within reach of the semi-pro demographic if the price were around $300.

Well, looks like I was right on the mouche. :D

iGavMar 7, 05:30 AMWe won't see the success of the global Ford Focus until the 2012 Focus. Before the new model, the American and Euro Focus were completely different. Only thing they shared was the name.

But prior to that the Mk1 was the same in both the U.S. & Europe.

Night PhoenixAug 25, 09:50 AMHey guys,

I will soon be getting an older Pentium 3 for free from my dad who is remodeling his office, and I was thinking of installing linux on it and turning it into a dvr / media box for my tv. Have any of you done this with a mac mini? Any opinions on this?

designedMar 23, 06:00 PMI'm right at 28 minutes with a MacPro 2.66 octo but I'm not currently running bigadv units because I keep having to shut down to swap hard drives, bigadv units don't restart once you have stopped them. One of these days I'll get some time to consolidate all of my files... then I won't have to shut down so frequently:p

Haha. I wanted the 2.66 octo but couldn't justify the price jump (and still somehow managed to justify the quad-to-octo jump, but that's another story). Of course my times tend to deviate, during the days it's just under 33 minutes but now and then a bit of Aperture work comes in and needs CPU attention.

I haven't noticed that bigadv units do not restart. Mine seem to restart just fine the few times I've shut FahCore down, continuing from the same frame. Does it affect the points awarded or so? Good thing I can usually bunch in the updates, last time it was a few software updates and a third HDD

Yes, it's a Vauxhall Corsa. Brilliant car to start in, never broken down either. Except I did brake the hand-break once :D Pulled it to hard I think, had to park the car in gear over night.

PaperQueenSep 14, 01:46 PMIncipio is now shipping DermaSHOT cases
http://www.gadgetmac.com/news/2010/9/9/incipio-dermashot-case-for-ipod-touch-4g-now-available.html

Got mine today. Definitely the low profile look I wanted; feels and looks like black suede. Very attactive.

All openings clear the space they need to—camera lens, speaker, earphone jack, etc. The power and volume switches are covered by the usual raised “buttons.” The power button takes a little extra oomph to make work since the case fits a little less snug than the Incase I’m accustomed to from my previous iPod Touch. Not loose enough to be a problem...actually, “loose” overstates it a bit...just not as tight a fit as what I’m used to.

Will work for the time being, until something irresistible comes out.

Here’s what I ordered (http://53zt.sl.pt) (Incipio Dermashot for iPod Touch 4G)

Definitely think the included stand is a stroke of genius in its simple design (would have loved to have this on a couple of overseas flights the past two years, pre-iPad). Am still pondering the “do I or don’t I” question on a screen protector. Now that it’s glass, simple logic tells me it shouldn’t be necessary unless someone wants to begin scraping diamonds down the face....right?

zoranNov 27, 02:50 PMWell Apple should just first make a face lift in ACDs both specs and price and then lets all just start thinking about the new 17" wide lcd. Personally i dont give a sh@t about a such a small display, the 23" ACD suits my needs, only its price and its potentials dont!
Damn it! :D

LollypopAug 7, 05:40 AMFinish work at 5.30pm - 1 hour of 5-a-side footy (6.00 - 7.00pm) - drive home, eat & shower by 7.30pm - turn on Mac, log into MacRumors (hopefully it'll be running!) - and laugh at all you silly bugger's who have to spend 1000's on a new Mac and display :p

It is funny reading about how people all of a sudden HAVE to get something, or are upset about how their investment is now worthless or if apple will let them exchange their recently bouth XXX for the new model.

I would love to be able to see some of the demos of leopard, I expect a lot of it, and screenshots wont work this time!

Maimon MonsNov 28, 12:02 PM...here is a link (http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/11631/) to the CNN review of the zune. I wouldn't be surprised if they were payed by Apple given how it ends.

For what it's worth, the first zune on the amazon.com list shows up at #21 at the moment. Out of the top 10, 8 are ipods and the other 2 are sandisk models. Zune is beaten out by the 80 GB ipod in addition to the cheaper models.

ZrSiO4-ZirconJan 11, 06:12 PMFirst time I've seen USB called complicated :).

I see what you mean from a design standpoint though, inelegant might be a better word. But it just makes too much sense not to do it. I hardly EVER use my optical drive. Why am I carrying it everywhere I go?

Point taken.
But still, I just don't think an external optical drive is a good idea. Reminds me of the days when I used those external CD drives where I had to put the CD in a cartridge before putting it in the drive...
I think the point I'm trying to make is that it makes it too complicated to the end user, having an accessory that's optional but a necessity at the same time.

PowerFullMacJan 12, 10:25 AMReally? I guess they've never heard of Nike before then.

People thought the iPhone would be called the iPhone for years.

I think that they should go with 'MacBook Pump' instead. The Reebok Pumps were so cool. Pump it up!

http://www.flytip.com/blogs/sneaker_culture/archives/images/alife_pump.jpg

Cisco already used the name "iPhone", but that never stopped the almighty Apple!

Benjy91Mar 28, 02:17 AMAgain people saying you couldn't play with a touchscreen device without looking at it have no imagination or understanding. Definately within two years you will be shown to be horribly wrong on this point.

You're sure about that? Considering the next Xbox isn't due for release till about 2015, and the PS4 probably later, and I'm pretty sure those systems will ship with controllers. The Kinect being an optional extra.

And I seriously doubt the iPad will could be seen as a serious competitor to Games Consoles and PC gaming, in the same way my calculator is a competitor to my iPhone because it performs a same function, better than my iPhone does.

SuperCachetesMar 2, 03:01 PMThe VW diesels are very well-built cars. A friend bought an '09 Jetta TDI and he is satisfied with it. I checked out the BMW 335d at the Detroit Auto show a year ago or so, and while I like the car BMW only offers it as a sedan and the base price is a laughably expensive $44k. If you won't buy a VW and want a newish diesel, your only other vaguely affordable option is a used W210/W211 (1996-2009) Mercedes Benz E-Class diesel. Nice cars, but you'll have to find one and it will be used (and not particularly cheap).

Are the Diesel versions built in Germany?

The Jetta I have is a 2000 1.8T, assembled in Puebla, and I would not call it "well-built" at all. I won't go so far as to call it a lemon, but there's evidence of poor engineering and poor assembly throughout the car. I suppose it was a first-year model...

In hindsight, I do wish I'd have gotten the Diesel variant of the era, but all in all, I still think I could've done better with a Honda. YMMV.

quagmireFeb 22, 08:04 PMGM's early 1980s flirtation with diesels produced some disastrously bad designs that left a bad taste in the mouths of consumers and have been cited ever since as a factor, though it can be called into question whether this is really germane anymore. I think the continued impact of the Olds diesel debacle is overstated.

The lesson everyone learned that day is you don't make a diesel engine from a gasoline Small Block V8.

DoraemonMar 19, 07:59 AMIn Australia (where Im from), the market is dead ! Most Apple Stores are large and if you ive in the Country - they don't exist. The rest of Asia is like that.

Like you can expect to have a Mac store in the middle of nowhere. That's BS. It's not profitable to run a Mac store in the (Australian) desert.

And have you ever been to China? You'll find lots of Apple stores there. And if you are in Japan, go to Akihabara, man and take a look around. There are like 14 Mac stores within three blocks.

I am outside the US. And there are iPod ads where ever I go.

And no, Apple is not dying. The markets where Apple is dominant will remain like that, since Apple is "attack[ing]" (to quote you) in the pro music and pro video markets. And in these markets Apple is making lots of money.
